Description

This course includes mechanical and microstructural fundamental of materials and their relationship to the macroscopic mechanical properties of materials. In the first part, basic crystallography and stereographic projection analysis are introduced. The 2nd part contains basic plasticity, dislocation theory and strengthening mechanisms. The 3rd part focuses on basic theory of material testing including tensile and fatigue and fracture tests.

Objectives
Understanding basic knowledge on microstructures and microscopic analysis of materials, understanding how the macroscopic mechanical behaviors of materials relate to the microstructure characteristics.
