Description
This course covers the principles, concepts of molecular thermodynamics of phase equilibria for the chemical engineering domain. Topics include the phase equilibria problem, thermodynamic properties from volumetric data, intermolecular forces and the theory of corresponding states, fugacities in gas mixtures, fugacities in liquid mixtures: excess functions, and fugacities in liquid mixtures, theories of solutions.
Objectives
Learn the theory and applications of phase equilibria, the concept of the virial equation of states and how to use it to determine fugacity from reduction of experimental data. Learn the concept of fugacities in gas and liquid mixtures and how to apply them to solve realistic problems.
